Dear Reader,

Recently I was upgrading OEM from 13.3 to 13.4. Running em13400_<OS>_ppc64.bin was failing with below error:

my-emserver1:./em13400_aix_ppc64.bin
ERROR: Temporary directory /tmp does not have enough free space. At least 12289 MB of free space are required.
Please input another directory or [Exit]: /nfs/db_config/oem/tmp
caution: excluded filename not matched: sfx.ini
ERROR: Cannot find component oracle.jdk.
ERROR: Cannot find components specified in JRE_COMPONENT=oracle.jdk,oracle.jre.
ERROR: Installer execution failed (1).

After searching on Metalink I found below matching note:

EM 13.4 : Input of Different Temp Location fails with ‘Cannot find component oracle.jdk.’ (Doc ID 2637530.1)

Even after trying workaround/solution given in document, I received the same error:

my-emserver1:./em13400_aix_ppc64.bin -J-Djava.io.tmpdir=/nfs/db_config/oem/tmp
caution: excluded filename not matched: sfx.ini
ERROR: Cannot find component oracle.jdk.
ERROR: Cannot find components specified in JRE_COMPONENT=oracle.jdk,oracle.jre.
ERROR: Installer execution failed (1).

I once again digged into MOS. I googled it but didnt find any matching document.

After trying different combinations, I found issue was with NFS drive, I guess Oracle didn’t want to write on NFS drive. When I provide local filesystem location, command worked without any issues:

Command used is given below:

my-emserver1:./em13400_aix_ppc64.bin -J-Djava.io.tmpdir=/u01/oraem/tmp
